Janie Beasley
Janie is one of ten children born and raised on the Swinomish Reservation. She graduated from La Conner High School and has attended Seattle Central Comm. College, attended classes at Skagit Valley College and Northwest Indian College and served in the United States Navy Reserves. Janie is a 2007 Leadership Skagit graduate.
She has now worked for the Swinomish Tribe off and on since 1979, including positions at the Swinomish Health clinic, in the Legal Department, the Planning Department, as a Realty Officer and Assistant Manager for the Longhouse Restaurant. Her most current position is Enrollment Assistant – processing application for tribal enrollment and issuing Enhanced Identification cards. Janie has also worked in a number of businesses in Skagit County.
Janie currently serves on the La Conner School Board, Leadership Skagit Curriculum Committee, EDASC Foundation Board; Tribal Leaders Congress on Education; Community Advisory Panel for Marathon Refinery, Swinomish Planning Commission; Protect Mother Earth Committee and Native Studies Advisory Group for NWIC.
